Skyhawks Sport Camps
Registration for Skyhawks programs begins Monday, March 23 and will be accepted until camp is full or seven days before the camp starts.
Skyhawks provides safe, positive sports programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as sportsmanship, teamwork, winning and losing. Skyhawks continues to build on its foundation of providing healthy and active lifestyle choices while helping develop and build the skills and confidence of young athletes. The key component of Skyhawks programs is superior coaching. Staff is trained to focus on skill building and participant safety. Experienced and well-trained staff makes Skyhawks what it is …the best athletic provider anywhere! Each camp includes quality instruction, a t-shirt and a merit award.
Skyhawks participants should bring two snacks, a water bottle, shoes (running shoes are fine) and sunscreen to each camp. Please label your child’s name and phone number on all personal belongings. Tiny Hawk – (Parent and Me) –Tiny-Hawk programs help children tune their large motor skills while refining their dexterity, balance and coordination with and without the ball. No pressure, just lots of fun while these tiny athletes learn the basics of basketball and soccer. Shin guards are recommended.
Tiny Hawk camps are held from 10:30 a.m. until Noon.

Cheerleading –Skyhawks sports cheerleading teaches young athletes all the essential skills to lead the crowd and support the team while preparing for competition. Each athlete will learn Skyhawks sports cheers, as well as the proper hand and body movements and jumping techniques that make cheering the competitive sport it is today. Each week concludes with a choreographed performance. All participants receive pom-poms.

Beginning Golf –Skyhawks sports golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through training in proper technique and foundational skills. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New at Golf) technology to its curriculum. SNAG utilizes a set of equipment designed for beginning golfers, including oversized plastic club heads and mini-tennis balls to help build confidence and to have fun. Holes are built with preset tee boxes or launching pads and are finished off with Velcro targets for greens. The golf camp will utilize golf helmets for protection. This is a fundamental golf camp.

Flag Football – Skyhawks sports flag football offers a complete package of skills and thrills that teach young athletes to enjoy this fast-paced game. Athletes will get a rich introduction to all positions on offense and defense, preparing them to be true champions on the gridiron. The camp introduces the core skills of passing, catching, and de-flagging or defensive positioning – all presented in a fun and invigorating training environment. The weekends with the Skyhawks Sports Bowl. This is a great camp for kids interested in playing in the Metro District’s flag football league.

Baseball – Skyhawks sports baseball is designed to teach and refine the fundamental skills of the game - fielding, catching, throwing, hitting, and base running – while infusing each athlete with the exciting spirit of the game. Each athlete will learn basic skills in exercises tailored to individuals thorough tee hitting, soft toss, and live pitching. These athletes will be equipped with the opportunity to succeed and will have fun the entire time. Participants must bring a glove.

Track & Field – Skyhawks Track & Field programs combine technical development, fundamental techniques, and fun to introduce young athletes to many Olympic-style events. The exercises and drills are designed to prepare athletes for a future in cross country, track and field events, distance running, and a lifelong love for being active. The programs will teach fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching and cool-down techniques. These are learning camps -- not training camps.

Lacrosse – Skills used in soccer, basketball, and hockey all come together in the unique game of lacrosse, one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. Lacrosse athletes will learn all the fundamental skills, including stick handling, cradling, passing, and shooting, in a non-checking environment. Participants must bring their own protective gloves, mouthpiece, helmet with full mask, and a lacrosse stick.

Beginning Volleyball –Skyhawks Sports Volleyball takes the fun and excitement of a great team sport and delivers it in an appealing and engaging way. All aspects of the game are developed in a series of drills and exercises focusing on passing, setting, hitting, and serving. This co-ed program helps each athlete develop the fundamental skills of the game through game-speed drills and scrimmages aimed at developing the whole player. Participants must bring a knee pads. This is a fundamental camp that will teach the basics of volleyball.

Baseball & Softball Pre-season Player Camp
The Highlands Ranch Metro District, in conjunction with Metropolitan State College of Denver baseball and softball teams, will offer a pre-season player camp for new to experienced players. With an emphasis on basic skills, good fundamentals and sportsmanship, players will be instructed on hitting, pitching, catching, fielding, and various drills to enhance your skills before the season starts. Players will be divided into groups based on age and skill level.

Softball Pitching/Catching Clinic (Girls’ Fastpitch)
The Highlands Ranch Metro District, in conjunction with the Metropolitan State College of Denver softball team, will offer a pre-season softball pitching clinic for new to experienced pitchers and catchers. This clinic will provide instruction for proper pitching form, control of pitches and drills to help you throughout the season. Catchers will learn the fundamentals of setting up for a pitch, quick release for throwing out runners, and blocking skills. Pitchers are encouraged to bring their own catchers. This can be your own catcher on the team or a parent/coach.

The Highlands Ranch Metro District, in conjunction with the Metropolitan State College of Denver baseball and softball teams, will offer a pre-season baseball and softball coaches clinic for new to experienced coaches. With an emphasis on basic skills, good fundamentals, sportsmanship and just plain fun, coaches will learn baseball and softball the way the game should be played. Coaches will be instructed on correct pitching form, catching, hitting, fielding, and various drills to use during practice.

Youth Flag Football Pre-Season Camp
Former professional quarterback TJ Rubley and the Highlands Ranch Metro District will host the Fourth Annual Youth Flag Football Pre-season Camp. This non-contact camp will teach athletic skills, football skills, flag football formations, life skills, and are a blast for all kids five to 14 years old. The camp is recommended for all participants of the Metro District Youth Flag Football league as well as individuals interested in learning more about flag football.

Boys’ Lacrosse Camp
Need to sharpen your lacrosse skills? Learn through a summer camp led by Mountain Vista High School Boys’ Lacrosse Head Coach, José Trujillo, who will focus on teaching and sharpening the skills and strategies employed by the most successful lacrosse coaches and players. The camp will reinforce critical skills while encouraging players to be creative and innovative in a fun and supportive atmosphere. The session will progress from individual work including stick development, shooting techniques, fast breaks, man up and man down action, offensive and defensive footwork, and defensive stick checks, into game situations where players can practice new skills against competition through situation drills. Whether you are a new or an experienced player, this camp will be a great experience. All campers will be required to bring a stick, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, a helmet, gloves and arm pads. Participants should bring plenty of water! This camp is held at Shea Stadium.
